Development and validation of mothering anxiety scale
The authors developed a scale, which measures mothering anxiety and can be used as an assessment tool, helping clinicians understand what are the primary triggers for mothering anxiety. The scale has five subscales: (1) Worry about health, (2) worry about academics, (3) worry about social relationships, (4) worry about safety, and (5) worry about one's ability to mother correctly. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the five-factor model has…

What is it to be “an ideal parent”? Does the answer differ across countries and social classes? To answer these questions in a way that minimizes bias and ethnocentrism, we used open-ended questions to explore ideal-parent beliefs among 8,357 mothers and 3,517 fathers from 37 countries. Leximancer Semantic Network Analysis was utilized to first determine parenting culture zones (i.e., countries with shared ideal-parent beliefs) and then extract t…

The COVID-19 pandemic affected people across the life span, including children and adolescents. This study focuses on exploring the lived experiences of children and adolescents in the United States during the pandemic. We discuss limitations, recommendations for future res…
Gender Equality and Maternal Burnout
In Western countries, recent decades have witnessed a revolution toward gender equality. Inequalities have been greatly reduced in areas such as education or employment. Because inequalities lead to distress, this development has largely benefited women. One notable exception is the realm of parenting, which has remained rife with inequalities even in the most egalitarian countries. We hypothesized that experiencing inequality in parenting when o…

The Effect of Concerns About Covid-19 on Anxiety, Stress, Parental Burnout, and Emotion Regulation
Background and aims: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused social and economic turmoil, which has led to enormous strain for many families. Social isolation can lead to increase in online communication and parents who use social media may be affected by other people's emotions online through what is known as digital emotion contagion (DEC).…
Exhausted Parents Experience of Anger
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anger and burnout among parents ( N =226). The results revealed burnout contrast and exhaustion predicted anger experience, and burnout contrast also predicted anger expression. The authors discuss the limitations of the study and implications for counseling research and practice

The authors explored emotion regulation (ER) among 25 counseling professionals (master's-level counselors-in-training and counseling supervisors) using grounded theory and established 5 themes: (a) emotional experiences, (b) emotion processing, (c) metacognition, (d) emotional self-protection, and (e) emotional support. The emerging theory provides a foundation for teaching and practicing ER
