The Determinants of Fertility in Swaziland
In this paper data from the 1988 Swaziland Family Health Survey, the first comprehensive study of fertility and family planning conducted in Swaziland, are used to examine the relative importance of nuptiality, contraceptive use, lactation, and involuntary infertility as they affect fertility. It is shown that future decreases in fertility in Swaziland are most likely to result from increases in use of contraception. Current use of contraception …
