    A biocultural perspective is used to integrate organic and psychogenic explanations of Comanche ghost sickness, a peripheral facial paralysis. Emphasis is placed upon the underlying biological conditions that predispose the ghost sickness victim and the social utility of the culturally patterned disease expression.
