Rethinking dynamic equivalence as a rhetorical construct
Eugene Nida’s concept “dynamic equivalence” is well-known all over the world – or is it? In this paper I argue first that Nida himself didn't understand the implications of his concept very well, and later, in shifting to the term “functional equivalence,” ruined it completely; then that it is effectively a rhetorical concept, in which the equivalence sought is not between two functions but between two rhetorical situations. The purpose of this paper was to extract the motivations behind homeschooling instructional decisions. This paper examines the limitations and biases of world university rankings and asks what drivers explain their ongoing proliferation and popularity. The 15 N natural abundance (δ 15 N) of ecosystem samples reflects measures of water availability
We assembled a globally-derived data set for site-averaged foliar δ15N, the δ15N of whole surface mineral soil and corresponding site factors (mean annual rainfall and temperature, latitude, altitude and soil pH). The δ15N of whole soil was related to all of the site variables (including foliar δ15 N) except altitude and, when regressed on latitude and rainfall, provided the best model of these data, accounting for 49% of the variation in whole s…

An extensive poll in New York City, with four groups of interviewers, showed that anti-Semitic views tend to be withheld from interviewers of Jewish appearance or name. Lower educational and economic groups were more influenced by the appearance of the interviewer. Indirect questions reveal less anti-Semitism.
