Predictive Models to Identify Factors Associated with a High One-Time Sexual Partnership Rate Among U.S. Men Who Have Sex with Men
Individual & joint associations of sexual stigma and mental distress with PrEP uptake, adherence and persistence among US gay and bisexual men
The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Sexual Behavior and HIV Prevention and Treatment Services Among U.S. Men Who Have Sex With Men in the Post-Lockdown Era
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, disruptions to sexual health services and changes to sexual behavior due to the first COVID-19 lockdowns were common among U.S. gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). Less is known about the persistence of these changes after this initial lockdown period. These changes have long-term implications for HIV prevention for current and future pandemic periods. This study collected information on COV…
Achieving the “Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S.” incidence reduction goals among at-risk populations in the South
Our analysis indicates that it is possible to reach EHE goals. The largest reductions in HIV incidence can be achieved by increasing ART coverage among MSM and all race groups benefit regardless of differences in ART initiation by race. Improving ART coverage to > 90% should be prioritized with a particular emphasis on reaching NHB MSM. Such a focus will reduce the largest number of incident cases, reduce racial HIV incidence disparities among bo…
Is It the Timing? Short-Term Mobility and Coital Frequency in Agbogbloshie, Ghana
A Behavioral Cascade of HIV Seroadaptation Among US Men Who Have Sex with Men in the Era of PrEP and U = U
Leveraging Modularity During Replication of High-Fidelity Models
High-fidelity models are increasingly used to predict, and guide decision making. Prior work has emphasized the importance of replication in ensuring reliable modeling, and has yielded important replication strategies. However, this work is based on relatively simple theory generating models, and its lessons might not translate to high-fidelity models used for decision support. Using NetLogo we replicate a recently published high-fidelity model e…
Coital Frequency and Male Concurrent Partnerships During Pregnancy and Postpartum in Agbogbloshie, Ghana
The association between monetary and sexual delay discounting and risky sexual behavior in an online sample of men who have sex with men
Delay discounting is a measure of impulsivity that has been found to be associated with numerous health-related outcomes. To the extent that delay discounting is associated with sexual risk-taking, it might serve as a marker for HIV risk or as the basis for novel HIV prevention interventions. The goal of the current study was to examine the association between monetary and sexual delay discounting and condomless anal intercourse (CAI) in a cross-…
Potential Impact of HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis Among Black and White Adolescent Sexual Minority Males
Objectives. To assess the potential impact of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) on the HIV epidemic among Black and White adolescent sexual minority males (ASMM). Methods. We used a network model and race-specific data from recent trials to simulate HIV transmission among a population of Black and White 13- to 18-year-old ASMM over 20 years. We estimated the number of infections prevented (impact) and the number needed to treat to prevent an infecti…
Geographic mobility and potential bridging for sexually transmitted infections in Agbogbloshie, Ghana
Strategies to uncover undiagnosed HIV infection among heterosexuals at high risk and link them to HIV care with high retention
ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01607541, Registered May 23, 2012
Community Sexual Bridging Among Heterosexuals at High-Risk of HIV in New York City
Syringe access, syringe sharing, and police encounters among people who inject drugs in New York City
Migration, sexual networks, and HIV in Agbogbloshie, Ghana
BACKGROUND: HIV is spread through structured sexual networks, which are influenced by migration patterns, but network-oriented studies of mobility and HIV risk behavior have been limited. OBJECTIVE: We present a comprehensive description and initial results from our Migration & HIV in Ghana (MHG) study in Agbogbloshie, an urban slum area within Accra, Ghana. METHODS: The MHG study was a population-based cross-sectional study of adults aged 18-49 …
Dual HIV Risk
Spatial Recruitment Bias in Respondent-Driven Sampling
Factors Associated with Recent HIV Testing Among Men Who Have Sex with Men in New York City
Delayed entry into HIV medical care after HIV diagnosis
Timely linkage to HIV medical care has the potential to improve individual health outcomes and prevent secondary HIV transmission. Recent research found that estimates of delayed care entry varied by study design, with higher estimates among studies using only HIV case surveillance data. In this analysis, we compared the prevalence and risk factors for care delay using data from two studies with different designs conducted in New York City. The M…
Reciprocal Sex Partner Concurrency and STDs among Heterosexuals at High-Risk of HIV Infection
Estimating HIV Incidence and the Correlates of Recent Infection in Venue-Sampled Men Who Have Sex With Men in New York City
Patterns of Exchange Sex and HIV Infection in High-Risk Heterosexual Men and Women
Unprotected Anal Intercourse and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in High-Risk Heterosexual Women
Objectives. We examined the association between unprotected anal intercourse and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among heterosexual women. Methods. In 2006 through 2007, women were recruited from high-risk areas in New York City through respondent-driven sampling as part of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance study. We used multiple logistic regression to determine the relationship between unprotected anal intercourse and HIV infection …
Reconsidering the Internet as an HIV/STD Risk for Men Who Have Sex with Men
