International curriculum transfer in geography in higher education
Internationalization of geography in higher education comes in many guises. This paper discusses some of these, with particular attention to curriculum development and transfer. The context is Bangladesh and a case study is presented of a link programme between three higher education institutions in that country and one in the UK. Pattern of medical waste management
The paper reveals that lack of awareness, appropriate policy and laws, and willingness are responsible for the improper management of medical waste in Dhaka City. The paper also shows that a newly designed medical waste management system currently serves a limited number of HCE. New facilities should be established for the complete management of medical waste in Dhaka City

The arsenic crisis that affects at least thirty million water consumers in Bangladesh has been called the world's greatest ever environmental health disaster. Tubewells have been so popular in rural Bangladesh that about 12 million have been installed, yielding water that is convenient, free and low in bacteria. Social implications of arsenic poisoning in Bangladesh
Besides its toxicity, groundwater arsenic contamination creates widespread social problems for its victims and their families in Bangladesh. There is, for instance, a tendency to ostracise arsenic-affected people, arsenicosis being thought of as a contagious disease. Within the community, arsenic-affected people are barred from social activities and often face rejection, even by their immediate family members. Women with visible arsenicosis sympt…
Analysis of dynamic responses of a biosorber under fasting conditions
A theoretical analysis applicable to packed bed biosorbers subjected to fasting conditions (no loading) and taking into consideration external mass transfer resistance, internal diffusional resistance accompanied by biological reaction (Michaelis‐Menten kinetics) and diffusion and adsorption onto activated carbon particles has been developed. Response of a packed bed biological reactor to perturbation of feed concentration and temperature
The performance characteristics of a packed bed biological reactor have been analyzed under triangular perturbation of substrate concentration and temperature for zero order, first order and Michaelis‐menten kinetics, respectively. The model equations have been solved by the method of orthogonal collocation. The results show that the mean value of steady‐state conversion is not affected by the perturbation imposed for the case of first order and …
