An Australian National Survey of First Nations Careers in Health Services
A strong First Nations health workforce is necessary to meet community needs, health rights, and health equity. A cross-sectional online survey was undertaken across professions, roles, and jurisdictions. Th…

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on UK medical education. A nationwide student survey
The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the delivery of medical education across the UK, with the majority of face-to-face teaching cancelled during the first wave, and medical schools consequently making varied adaptations to education delivery. To identify and share effective adaptations, we conducted a cross-sectional, online survey (COVID Med-Ed) between 20th May and 31st August 2020 which divided undergraduate teaching by GMC “Outc…
Ciceronian Ethos and Clerical Masculinity in the Regensburg Rhetorical Letters
The Regensburg Rhetorical Letters are fictional letters composed in the 1080s at the Regensburg cathedral school. They imitate Ciceronian texts to fashion a valorized masculine identity based in learning, eloquence, and public service for secular clerics in civil administration who were attacked for idleness and effeminacy by reformers like Peter Damian. Centering textual and rhetorical expertise, the Letters reveal the heterogeneity of clerical …

Anthropology is companion studies
Companions in the field influence ethnography, thus affecting research position whilst providing research insights. The research of violence takes place within the relations of violence being studied. Family companions who used to live in a field site are entwined in those violent relations. Capacity for violent threat or suffering is connected to the companions of family. Reporting on companions is problematic. Where anonymity is compromised, ke…

OP95 Public Involvement in Health and Social Care Research
Background Public involvement (PI) in research, promoted by the UK Department of Health, has gained considerable momentum. Despite this, examination of the actual impacts of this involvement or how such impacts might be measured effectively remains limited. Evidence about the impact of PI is essential to ensure integrity, avoid harmful effects and to justify resources. In light of this, the overall aim of this MRC multi-phase study was to advance…
Comparison of HIV-positive women with children and without children accessing HIV care and treatment in the IeDEA Central Africa cohort
Globally, women comprise half of all people living with HIV, but in sub-Saharan Africa, women are disproportionately affected. Data were obtained from 8419 HIV-infected women at enrollment into 10 HIV treatment programs in Cameroon, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of the Central Africa region of the International Epidemiological Database to Evaluate AIDS. We used chi-squared tests to determine if distributions between wo…

Initial Notes on the X‐ray Fluorescence Characterization of the Rhyodacite Sources of the Taos Plateau, New Mexico
A preliminary statement of the energy dispersive X‐ray fluorescence characterization of six spatially discrete rhyodacite sources of the Taos Plateau, New Mexico is presented. Geochemical characterization serves to determine the sources of an initial sample of 30 rhyodacite artifacts from three archaeological sites some 20–40 km distant from the sources. The initial results indicate that barium, strontium and zirconium are particularly effective …
Reliability of the health hazard appraisal
As part of a controlled clinical trial of Health Hazard Appraisal's (HHA) efficacy in stimulating risk reduction, the reliability of the HHA questionnaire was evaluated. Of 203 subjects, only 30 (15%) had no contradictions when comparing the responses of the follow-up with baseline questionnaire. Overall, there was an average of 1.6 contradictions per subject. Failure to control for reliability may account for apparent reduction of risk reported …
Contemporary Developments in Rural Life in Europe
Contemporary Developments in Rural Life in Europe Running through a great deal of discussion in contemporary rural sociology in Europe is to be found the question: “Will there be a genuine rural‐urban difference in the Europe of the future?” It is against the background of an ever‐developing urban‐industrial society that what is called rural society is increasingly studied. In America an analogous development has led rural sociologists to formula…
