  • Strategic coal-power phaseout reallocates carbon-water co-benefits towards water-stressed regions in China

Open Access•Lin lv, Chi Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2026

Coal-power phaseout is critical for climate mitigation and increasingly relevant to water-security planning. Yet, unlike geographically uniform climate benefits, the value of water savings depends heavily on local scarcity. Whether shifting water scarcity considerations from ex-post evaluation to ex-ante pathway design can reshape the carbon-water nexus remains unclear. Here we develop a unit-level assessment framework to examine the spatiotempor…

  • Being heard, being held

Duojie Zhou, Chi Zhang•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Arts and Health•2026

This note from the field offers a critical reflection on the improvised performance by Chinese pianist Xiangdong Kong in public-facing arts-in-health work. Structural equation modelling with bootstrapping estimation was conducted to test the hypothesised model. The results revealed that…

  • Heterogeneous Neighborhood-Enhanced Graph Contrastive Learning for Recommendation

Open Access•Lei Sang, Chi Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2026

Heterogeneous self-supervised graph learning has gained considerable attention in recommender systems for its ability to capture diverse semantic and structural relationships in real-world data. Contrastive learning enhances representation learning by maximizing agreement between positive pairs while distinguishing negative ones in cross-views. However, two key challenges remain: 1) noise, such as false negatives, that degrades representation qua…

Open Access•Huiyu Ren, Junya Lv et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2026

There is very little research on the small scale of the residential areas, and most studies have not taken into account the community embedded resources. This article employs different scales of subdistricts and residential areas and includes the embedded elderly care beds in the communities. • The legal dilemma of medical artificial intelligence in China

    Open Access•Chi Zhang•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping clinical practice and transforming the doctor–patient relationship from a traditional physician–patient dyad to a composite structure of “physician + AI–patient”. While this structural shift can improve diagnostic and therapeutic efficiency, it also poses unprecedented challenges to the normative design and legal application of the physician's duty to inform. In traditional …

  • How Pandemics Affect International Investment

Open Access•Zhang Chi, Chi Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2026

We evaluate the impact of the 2003 SARS‐CoV‐1 epidemic on inbound cross‐border M&As in China. Provinces that experienced high levels of SARS infection rates also suffered a significant decline in cross‐border M&A activity, both in terms of the number of transactions and the overall dollar volume. The negative impact is entirely driven by a decline in deals for non‐state‐owned targets. The large, negative effect was short‐lived, and it largely dis…

Open Access•Qingmei Liu, Ji Shen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome represents a new framework to address the non-communicable disease burden in ageing populations. However, evidence on the association between physical activity and the integrated CKM syndrome is scarce, particularly among older Asian adults. We aimed to investigate this association in a large sample of older Chinese adults. Methods: This cross-sectional study utilised data from the China …

Background In the context of China's persistently low fertility rates, understanding sociopsychological factors beyond policy is crucial. This study shifts the focus from actual social mobility to the role of subjective mobility expectations—individu…

However, patriotic campaigns are not always top-down, state-led, nor are they always primarily driven by political ideology. Patriotic content appeals to a growing nationalist audience who consumes a mixed feeling of perceived victimization at the hand of foreign aggression and the prid…
