  • Beppu Bay, Japan, as a candidate Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point for the Anthropocene series

    Open Access•Michinobu Kuwae, B Finney et al.•ARTICLE•The Anthropocene Review•2023•Cited by: 4•References: 29

For assessment of the potential of the Beppu Bay sediments as a Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) candidate for the Anthropocene, we have integrated datasets of 99 proxies. The datasets for the sequences date back 100 years for most proxy records and 1300 years for several records. The cumulative number of occurrences of the anthropogenic fingerprint reveal unprecedented increases above the base of the 1953 flood layer at 64.6 c…

Open Access•Masanobu Yamamoto, Fangxian Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • Holocene surface hydroclimate changes in the Indo-Pacific warm pool

    Open Access•Ziye Li, Min-Te Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2018

  • Climatic and ecological changes of the past 1900 years inferred from long-chain alkenones in Kusai Lake, northern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

Open Access•Xudong Wu, Xingqi Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2018

Open Access•Yasuto Yamamoto, Taku Ajioka et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2016

  • Holocene sea-ice conditions and circulation at the Chukchi-Alaskan margin, Arctic Ocean, inferred from biomarker proxies

    Open Access•Leonid Polyak, Simon T Belt et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016•Cited by: 3•References: 13

Two sediment cores from the Chukchi Sea margin were investigated for the Arctic sea-ice biomarker IP 25 , along with marine and terrestrial sterols and glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs). This is the first paleoclimatic application of IP 25 in the Chukchi-Alaskan region of the Arctic, which is key for understanding Arctic–Pacific interactions and is experiencing rapid sea-ice retreat under present warming. Sea-ice and related circulati…

  • Palaeobotanical records from Rebun Island and their potential for improving the chronological control and understanding human–environment interactions in the Hokkaido Region, Japan

    Open Access•Stefanie Müller, Mareike Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016•Cited by: 7•References: 21

Rebun Island with Hamanaka and Funadomari among the 43 documented archaeological sites and the environmental archive stored in the Lake Kushu sediment proves to be one of the key areas to study the interplay between ecology, climate and human activities. This paper focuses on the potential of palaeobotanical records from Rebun Island for improving the chronological control and understanding of late Quaternary climate changes and habitation enviro…

  • Millennial-scale alkenone sea surface temperature changes in the northern South China Sea during the past 45,000 years (MD972146)
