In an era of increased complexity, interdependence, uncertainty and rapidly advancing technology, the ability to identify and swiftly adapt to current and future trends is key to progressing sustainability. The intersecting and converging crises of the 21st century have exposed the limits of planning that re…

Open Access•Chidozie Umeh, Fang Lee Cooke•ARTICLE•Gender Work and Organization•2025•References: 20

There is now a substantial body of feminist scholarship which has significantly advanced the field of gender‐related research. • The state as regulator? The ‘dual-track’ system of employment in the Chinese public sector and barriers to equal pay for equal work

Open Access•Xiliang Feng, Fang Lee Cooke et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Industrial Relations•2020

Although equal pay for equal work has been clearly incorporated in the law in China for several decades, its implementation faces considerable impediments. Using the dual-track employment and rem…

  • Underpayment of wages and wage distortion in China

Jia Li, Fang Lee Cooke et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy•2015•References: 11

Are workers in China underpaid? And if so, what may be the reasons and by how much? We estimate that labour underpayment is approximately 43.7% in this period of assessment, a significantly higher figure than the estimates for Western economies. Underpayment in this period t…
