Immigrant Entrepreneurship and Rural Tourism in a Left-Behind Region, Sayago (Zamora, Spain)
Rural Sayago (Zamora, Spain), on the Portuguese border, exemplifies long-term depopulation and ageing processes in Southern Europe. Illuminating the shadows of skilled migration
This paper analyses the labour incorporation of skilled Latin American immigrant workers into Spain. It is based on in‐depth interviews with 24 Latin American immigrants and it explores reasons for migration into Spain, showing that the interviewees migrated for a great variety of reasons, not necessarily for work. Subsequently, the paper analyses the interviewees’ labour incorporation in Spain and defines three paths into skilled work in Spain. …

Explaining Urban Migration from Mexico City to the USA
Using a representative survey on a municipality in Mexico City, the article explores the relevance of both social networks and place attachments for US migration. By comparing households with and without migrants, the logistic regression models show that social networks make emigration more selective with respect “education”, but less selective regarding “sex” and “marital status”.
