  • Between Christ and Alexander

    Open Access•Marco Giardini•ARTICLE•Religions•2024•References: 32

The article provides of comprehensive examination of the main examples of typological exegesis that substantiate the eschatological framework of Pseudo-Methodius's Syriac Apocalypse. • Sicily, Constantinople, and Jerusalem

    Open Access•Marco Giardini•ARTICLE•Religions•2023•References: 21

Among the aims of Charles VIII's Italian expedition, the reappropriation of the kingdoms of Naples and Jerusalem served as the main purpose for preparing the decisive crusade that would regain Jerusalem to Christianity. • Tyrrhenian central Italy

    Open Access•Simon Stoddart, John Woodbridge et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 12•References: 34

This paper compares changes in vegetation structure and composition (using synthetic fossil pollen data) with proxy data for population levels (including settlements and radiocarbon dates) over the course of the last 10 millennia in Tyrrhenian central Italy. These data show generalised patterns of clearance of woodland in response both to early agriculturalists and urbanism, as well as the specific adoption of tree crops and variations in stock g…

  • From influence to impact

    Open Access•Anna Maria Mercuri, Assunta Florenzano et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 18•References: 33

Archaeobotany is used to discover details on local land uses in prehistoric settlements developed during the middle and beginning of late Holocene. Six archaeological sites from four countries (Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey) have pollen and charcoal records showing clear signs of the agrarian systems that had developed in the Mediterranean basin during different cultural phases, from pre-Neolithic to Recent Bronze Age. A selected list of polle…

  • Vegetation, climate and environmental history of the last 4500 years at lake Shkodra (Albania/Montenegro)

    Open Access•Laura Sadori, Marco Giardini et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Cited by: 6•References: 15

Three parallel overlapping cores have been taken in the Albanian side of Lake Shkodra (Albania/Montenegro). The chronological frame of the record, spanning approximately the last 4500 years, has been assessed using four radiocarbon dates and four well-known tephra layers of Italian volcanoes. Multidisciplinary analyses turned out to be decisive to understand environmental, climatic changes and human impact. Here, we focus on palynology. The humid…
