  • Asian summer monsoon influence on chemical weathering and sediment provenance determined by clay mineral analysis from the Indus Submarine Canyon

    Open Access•Yuting Li, Peter D Clift et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2020

Clay minerals from the Indus Canyon and eastern clinoform since ~12 ka are uniformly rich in smectite and illite, similar to those from the Holocene Indus flood plains. A systematic enrichment of smectite in the proximal delta compared to the canyon and eastern clinoform argues for preferential capture of smectite close to the river mouth since ~12 ka. There is a rapid shift to a more smectite-rich assemblage in the canyon and eastern clinoform a…

  • Asian Monsoon

Ryuji Tada, Richard W Murray et al.•BOOK•Asian Monsoon•2015

Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Expedition 346 (29 July–27 September 2013) drilled seven sites covering a wide latitudinal range in the body of water bordered by the Eurasian continent, the Korean Peninsula, and the Japanese Islands, as well as two closely spaced sites in the East China Sea. This expedition recovered 6135.3 m of core with an average recovery of 101%—a record amount of core recovered during any single IODP expedition. Exp…

  • Redistricting Decisions in the American States

Richard Murray, Richard W Murray et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Political…•1974•Cited by: 4

This research tests Riker's minimal winning coalition hypothesis in cases of redistricting in the American states. The authors contend these cases satisfy particularly well the conditions under which the hypothesis should hold, and thus they provide a strong test of the size principle. An examination of cases since 1900 did not provide much support for the hypothesis. Most redistricting plans were approved by rather large majorities, and even whe…
