  • Are there everyday examples of simultaneous causation? Buddhist examples and arguments

    Open Access•Jincheng Li•ARTICLE•International Journal for…•2026

The existence of simultaneous causation has long been a subject of controversy. In the literature, the most direct strategy for defending simultaneous causation has been to appeal to everyday examples in which simultaneous causation are alleged to occur. While earlier discussions offered case-specific defenses, they lacked a systematic account of the full range of possible cases. This article reconstructs and evaluates a largely neglected set of …

  • Mapping factors associated with health system resilience against large-scale infectious disease outbreaks

Open Access•Shiyao Xu, Hongyuan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

Resilient health systems have been demonstrated to be important in safeguarding global health security against crises. However, health system resilience against infectious disease outbreaks is not well understood because of the ambiguity in the details of the conceptualization, and lack of evidence on the specific capacities that health systems need to be resilient to infectious disease outbreaks. We aimed to provide a detailed understanding of h…

  • Saṃghabhadra on Perception of Nonexistence

Shuqing Zhang, Jincheng Li•ARTICLE•Philosophy East and West•2026

Can nonexistence be perceived? While the answer may seem obviously negative, proving this is not straightforward. This article extracts several arguments for the claim that "non-existence cannot be an object of perception" from the reasoning provided by Saṃghabhadra regarding "non-existence cannot be an object of *buddhi ." Two main arguments are reconstructed, and both are reductio ad absurdum . The first suggests that if any nonexistence could …

  • Saṃghabhadra on Simultaneity

    Jincheng Li•ARTICLE•Philosophy East and West•2026

This article examines Saṃghabhadra's theory of simultaneity. Drawing on his account of time, I argue that his system must be taken to entail two types of simultaneity between events/entities: one grounded in their occurring at the same moment, and another grounded in the impossibility of further distinguishing them as earlier or later. I further contend that the latter type of simultaneity shifts with changes in the reference point, whereas the f…

  • A handmade influenza A virus teaching model for enhancing virology education

    Open Access•Jincheng Li, Leiliang Zhang•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Education•2025

Influenza pandemics occur annually, highlighting the importance of understanding the influenza A virus (IAV) in the context of orthomyxoviruses and virology as a whole. However, many undergraduate students find the complex knowledge surrounding virology challenging to grasp., particularly the three-dimensional structure and dynamic processes of IAV. To address this issue, we developed a tangible, interactive, and cost-effective model using ultra-…

  • How to Define Sahabhūhetu

    Open Access•Jincheng Li•ARTICLE•Journal of Indian Philosophy•2025

The co-existent cause ( sahabhūhetu ) is a type of cause proposed by the Sarvāstivāda school, which arises simultaneously with its effects. However, there is significant disagreement on how define a dharma as the co-existent cause of its effects. One of the central debates revolves around how to interpret the common effects ( *ekaphala ) criterion employed by the Vaibhāṣikas, especially Saṃghabhadra, to define the co-existent cause. Previous stud…

  • Obia-Based Extraction of Artificial Terrace Damages in the Loess Plateau of China from UAV Photogrammetry

Open Access•Xuan Fang, Jincheng Li et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2021

Terraces, which are typical artificial landforms found around world, are of great importance for agricultural production and soil and water conservation. However, due to the lack of maintenance, terrace damages often occur and affect the local flow process, which will influence soil erosion. Automatic high-accuracy mapping of terrace damages is the basis of monitoring and related studies. Researchers have achieved artificial terrace damage mappin…

  • Characteristics of Dissolved Organic Nitrogen in the Sediments of Six Water Sources in Taihu Lake, China

Open Access•Xiaofan Yang, Xueyu Wei et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

KCl-extractable sediment dissolved organic nitrogen (KS-DON) extracted from sediments near drinking water intakes of six drinking water sources in Taihu Lake in China was partitioned into hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions and high/low molecular weight fractions. The results showed that the total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) contents of the extracts ranged from 67.78 to 128.27 mg/kg. KS-DON was the main TDN species, accounting for more than 50%, w…

  • Assessment of the Sludge Reduction of the Metabolic Uncoupler 3,3′,4′,5-tetrachlorosalicylanilide (TCS) in Activated Sludge Culture

Open Access•Xiaofan Yang, Xiaoping Xu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Batch experiments were completed to assess the sludge reduction of the metabolic uncoupler 3,3',4',5-tetrachlorosalicylanilide (TCS). The effects of various TCS concentrations on sludge yield were evaluated and the mechanisms associated with sludge reduction were assessed. We discovered that TCS addition resulted in a reduction in sludge. Furthermore, a low dose of TCS (≤3 mg/L) resulted in a slight reduction in the efficiency of the wastewater t…
