  • Glacial events during the last glacial termination in the Pagele valley, Qiongmu Gangri peak, southern Tibetan Plateau, and their links to oceanic and atmospheric circulation

Open Access•Xiangke Xu, Tandong Yao et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2020

During the last glacial termination, a warming trend was generally interrupted by rapid millennium-scale cold reversals, such as the Greenland (Isotope) Stadial 1 (GS-1) and GS-2a events. To understand how glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau (TP) responded to these rapid climate events, this study constrained the timing and extent of three glacial events during the late-glacial period. Specifically, using a cosmogenic 10 Be exposure dating method, we…

  • Optically stimulated luminescence dating of Holocene palaeoflood deposits in the middle reach of the Yongding River, China

Open Access•Xiaohong Zhao, Junping Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Late-Holocene glacier advances and related climate conditions in the Hailuogou catchment, Gongga Shan, eastern Tibetan Plateau

    Open Access•Xiangke Xu, Ateeq Q Muhammad et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016•References: 6

We present simulations for the late-Holocene glacier advances in the Hailuogou catchment, Gongga Shan, in attempts to test the glacier sensitivity to climate changes and constrain the climate conditions that support these glacier advances. We use a coupled mass-balance and ice-flow model parameterized using empirical glaciological and climatological data to simulate the glacier extents by fitting modeled glaciers to corresponding glacial landform…

  • Vegetation and climate changes during three interglacial periods represented in the Luochuan loess-paleosol section, on the Chinese Loess Plateau

Open Access•Maotang Cai, Mingjian Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2013

  • Responses of two branches of Glacier No. 1 to climate change from 1993 to 2005, Tianshan, China

Open Access•Xiangke Xu, Baolin Pan et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2011

  • Environmental change during the Holocene in western China on a millennial timescale

    Open Access•Shangzhe Zhou, S Z Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•1991•Cited by: 3

Recent data on the evolution of the inland lakes, loess-palaeosol sequences, and glacier variations in western China are briefly reviewed. The lake history shows three distinct stages in the Holocene, i.e., low water levels before 7500 BP, a stage of expansion during the climatic optimum between 7500 and 3500 BP, and contraction after 3500 BP. Three stages (wooded grassland, mixed woodland, wooded grassland becoming steppe) also appear indicated …
