Characterization of phreatic overgrowths on speleothems precipitated in the northern Adriatic during a sea-level stillstand at ca. 2.8 ka
We examined a Late Holocene sea-level stillstand using phreatic overgrowths on speleothems (POS) recovered from Medvjeđa Špilja [Bear Cave] (northern Adriatic Sea) from −1.28 ± 0.15 m below present mean sea level. Different mineralogical analyses were performed to characterize the POS and better understand the mechanisms of their formation. Results reveal that the fibrous overgrowth is formed of calcite and that both the supporting soda straw and…
Palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of the Milna valley on the island of Vis (Central Adriatic) during the late Holocene
Recently submerged tidal notches in the wider Makarska area (Central Adriatic, Croatia)
New Data on Marine Radiocarbon Reservoir Effect in the Eastern Adriatic Based on Pre-Bomb Marine Organisms from the Intertidal Zone and Shallow Sea
Radiocarbon analyses of 14 modern, pre-bomb marine organisms collected between AD 1836 and 1946 along the eastern Adriatic coast were performed. The 14 C ages of five algal and nine mollusk samples were measured by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). Marine 14 C reservoir ages (R) and regional offsets (ΔR) were calculated and compared. The marine reservoir ages of shells and algae significantly differ, even though both inhabit the hard substrate…

Biological indicators of relative sea level change during the last 2 ka on the islands of Vis, Ravnik and Biševo in Croatia
Relative sea level change in western Istria (Croatia) during the last millennium
Tectonic contribution to relative sea level change
Istrian and Dalmatian fishtanks as sea-level markers
