Educational leadership for social transformation
Education is the medium through which society can be transformed to ensure we live in a world free from discrimination and exclusion, where human beings coexist peacefully. Alternative education
Children in emergency situations, especially those who have been affected by conflict, have a wide range of educational needs depending on their context. They may have missed part or all of their education or at the very least their education has been disrupted. Diasporic Transnationalism
This paper examined the experiences of the post 1995 Montserratian migrants in the UK—as transnationals and as a diaspora. It relates that the out-migration phenomenon is not new in the Montserrat context, but this group is spotlighted not only because it represents the largest out-migration in the recorded history of the island, but also because it has literally changed the face of the socio-economic, socio-cultural and socio-political landscape…
Identity, Ethnicity and School Experiences
This paper explores the issues of identity and ethnicity that confront relocated Montserratian students in British schools. It begins with a brief historical review of the ongoing volcanic crisis, then explains the circumstances within which the issues are framed.
