  • A 13,100-year record of net primary productivity from subtropical China reveals shifting climatic and anthropogenic controls

Open Access•Lin Zhao, Shanshan Meng et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocene•2026

  • Evolution of global vegetation patterns since the last glacial maximum

    Open Access•Junyan Geng, Haibin Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 3

  • Geochemical characteristics of Holocene loess-paleosol sequences in central Chinese Loess Plateau and their implications for East Asian monsoon evolution

Open Access•Pei Li, Chunxia Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • Evidence from the Dayao Paleolithic site, Inner Mongolia for human migration into arid northwest China during mid-Pleistocene interglacials

    Open Access•Junyi Ge, J Y Ge et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2021

The Dayao Paleolithic site, located in Inner Mongolia on the eastern margin of China's vast northwestern drylands, was a lithic quarry-workshop utilized by Pleistocene human migrants through the region. Determining the age of this activity has previously yielded controversial results. Our magnetostratigraphic and OSL dating results suggest the two artifact-bearing paleosols are correlated with MIS 5 and 7, respectively. Correlating paleoclimatic …

  • Spatial variation of East Asian winter monsoon evolution between northern and southern China since the last glacial maximum

Open Access•Qin Li, Haibin Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2021

The East Asian winter monsoon (EAWM) is one of the most dynamic components of the global climate system. Although poorly understood, knowledge of long-term spatial differences in EAWM variability during the glacial–interglacial cycles is important for understanding the dynamic processes of the EAWM. We reconstructed the spatiotemporal characteristics of the EAWM since the last glacial maximum (LGM) using a comparison of proxy records and long-ter…

  • Spatiotemporal changes in early human land use during the Holocene throughout the Yangtze River Basin, China

    Open Access•Jie Yu, Yanyan Yu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 15

The contribution of early human activity to the increase in atmospheric CH 4 content during the middle to late-Holocene is still debated. The quantitative reconstruction of past changes in land use by early rice agriculture is a key to resolving the issue, because large uncertainties still exist in current prehistoric land use estimates, owing to a lack of direct records. In this study, we used the combination of archaeological data (the area and…

  • Late onset of the Holocene rainfall maximum in northeastern China inferred from a pollen record from the sediments of Tianchi Crater Lake

Open Access•Xiaoyan Liu, Tao Zhan et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2019

The timing of the Holocene summer monsoon maximum (HSMM) in northeastern China has been much debated and more quantitative precipitation records are needed to resolve the issue. In the present study, Holocene precipitation and temperature changes were quantitatively reconstructed from a pollen record from the sediments of Tianchi Crater Lake in northeastern China using a plant functional type-modern analogue technique (PFT-MAT). The reconstructed…

  • Large-scale vegetation history in China and its response to climate change since the Last Glacial Maximum

Open Access•Qin Li, Haibin Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • Impact of injury-related mortality on life expectancy in Zhejiang, China based on death and population surveillance data

Open Access•Fang-Rong Fei, Jieming Zhong et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2017

Our findings indicate that injury deaths had a major impact on life expectancy in Zhejiang. More attention should be paid to road traffic injury, and preventive action should be taken to reduce injury-related deaths to increase life expectancy, especially in children under five years of age and the elders over 65 years of age

  • Breakfast Consumption and Its Associations with Health-Related Behaviors among School-Aged Adolescents

Open Access•Meng Wang, Jieming Zhong et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

Evidence indicates that breakfast consumption is associated with a cluster of health-related behaviors, yet studies in mainland China are scarce. This study is conducted to describe the frequency of breakfast consumption among Chinese adolescents and examine its associations with other dietary, physical activity, sedentary, sleep, cigarette-smoking, and alcohol-drinking behaviors. Breakfast consumption and other health-related behaviors data was …

  • Spatial and temporal changes of prehistoric human land use in the Wei River valley, northern China

    Open Access•Yanyan Yu, Haibin Wu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016•Cited by: 5•References: 6

Agricultural land use has been established as the dominant prehistoric human activity in early cultural centers for thousands of years. However, because of lack of data, there is still considerable debate about the amount and spatial distribution of prehistoric land use across the world. Quantitative reconstruction of it on the basis of human activity records, for example, archaeological data, is the key to resolving the issue. Here, we focus on …

  • Danube loess stratigraphy — Towards a pan-European loess stratigraphic model

    Open Access•Slobodan B Marković, Thomas Stevens et al.•ARTICLE•Earth-Science Reviews•2015

  • Analysis on associated factors of uncontrolled hypertension among elderly hypertensive patients in Southern China

Open Access•Li Yang, Yang Li et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

Lack of adequate hypertension control is relatively high among the elderly in Southern China. Hypertension awareness and early treatment are needed in this population, especially among suburban population, as well as adopting appropriate antihypertensive medication therapy and healthy lifestyles

  • Reconstruction of climate and vegetation changes of Lake Bayanchagan (Inner Mongolia)

Open Access•Wenying Jiang, Zhengtang Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2006

A high-resolution pollen and Pediastrum record, spanning 12,500 yr, is presented for Lake Bayanchagan , southern Inner Mongolia. Individual pollen taxa (PT-MAT) and the PFT affinity scores (PFT-MAT) were used for quantitative climatic reconstruction from pollen and algal data. Both techniques indicate that a cold and dry climate, similar to that of today, prevailed before 10,500 cal yr B.P. The wettest climate occurred between ∼10,500 and 6500 ca…
