  • Soil weathering and human activities dominate trace elements in a stalagmite from Shandong Peninsula in coastal North China during the last millennium

Open Access•Yuefeng Liu, Ke Cheng et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2025

  • A speleothem record of seasonality and moisture transport around the 8.2 ka event in Central Europe (Vacska Cave, Hungary)

Open Access•Attila Demény, György Czuppon et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2024

A stalagmite was collected in northern Hungary from the Vacska Cave, where monitoring and ventilation-based site selection had been conducted. The stalagmite covers the 10–8 ka (relative to AD 1950) period, including the so-called 8.2 ka event, and showed preceding signs of climate change that were evaluated by petrographic observations, 14 C activities, Sr concentrations, and stable isotope compositions of calcite and inclusion-hosted water. Com…

  • Holocene hydrological changes in Europe and the role of the North Atlantic ocean circulation from a speleothem perspective

Open Access•Attila Demény, Zoltán Kern et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2021

Societal concerns about future hydroclimate changes urge a thorough understanding of the governing processes. Here, an analysis of Middle and Late Holocene speleothem-based hydroclimate reconstructions and paleoclimate model simulations reveals sub-millennial fluctuations in the spatiotemporal variability of precipitation in the European and Mediterranean regions, that complements previous dendrochronological and pollen-based reconstructions with…

  • North Atlantic influences on climate conditions in East-Central Europe in the late Holocene reflected by flowstone compositions

Open Access•Attila Demény, Zoltán Kern et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • Monitoring in the Barać and Lower Cerovačka caves (Croatia) as a basis for the characterization of the climatological and hydrological processes that control speleothem formation

Open Access•György Czuppon, Neven Bočić et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2018

  • Recrystallization-induced oxygen isotope changes in inclusion-hosted water of speleothems – Paleoclimatological implications

Open Access•Attila Demény, György Czuppon et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2016

  • Mid-Holocene climate conditions and moisture source variations based on stable H, C and O isotope compositions of speleothems in Hungary

Open Access•Attila Demény, György Czuppon et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2013
