  • Elevated accuracy in recognition of subliminal happy facial expressions in patients with panic disorder after psychotherapy

Open Access•Zirong Qian, Yunbo Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

These data suggest that patients with PD exhibited a "happy-face recognition advantage" after psychotherapy. Less symptoms after treatment were related to a reduced fear bias. Thus, a differential facial emotion detection task could be a suitable tool to monitor response patterns and biases in individuals with ADs in the context of psychotherapy

  • Mapping genomic loci implicates genes and synaptic biology in schizophrenia

Open Access•Vassily Trubetskoy, Antonio F Pardiñas et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2022

  • Expression of CXCR4 on CD4+ T cells predicts body composition parameters in female adolescents with anorexia nervosa

Open Access•Jana Freff, Lisa Bröker et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe eating disorder characterized by excessive weight loss and lack of recognition of the seriousness of the current low body weight. Individuals with AN frequently exhibit an enhanced inflammatory state and altered blood levels of cytokines and chemokines. However, the expression of chemokine receptors in AN and the association with body composition parameters and treatment effects are still unknown. In this study, …

  • Genome-wide meta-analysis of depression identifies 102 independent variants and highlights the importance of the prefrontal brain regions

    Open Access•David M Howard, Mark J Adams et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Neuroscience•2019

  • Genome-wide association analyses identify 44 risk variants and refine the genetic architecture of major depression

    Open Access•eQTLGen eQTLGen, Naomi R Wray et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Genetics•2018

  • Support Vector Machine Analysis of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Interoception Does Not Reliably Predict Individual Outcomes of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Panic Disorder with Agoraphob…

Open Access•Benedikt Sundermann, Jens Bode et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2017

In contrast to reports on other neurofunctional probes, SVM based on an interoception paradigm was not able to reliably predict individual response to CBT. Results speak against the clinical applicability of this technique

  • Alexithymia and Incidental Learning of Emotional Words

Open Access•Thomas Suslow, Anette Kersting et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2003

Alexithymia is thought to reflect a deficit in the cognitive capacity to process emotions. Prior research suggests that emotional valence has a memory enhancing effect in poor conceptual learning conditions. This study addressed the question of whether incidental learning of emotional words is a function of alexithymic tendencies. Incidental learning is unintentional learning that results from other activities. The 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Sca…
