Excavations on the Roman Fort at Abergavenny, Orchard Site, 1972–73
Excavations revealed important elements of a pre-Flavian fort, including a well-preserved clay and turf rampart, barrack blocks and a granary. A good assemblage of contemporary pottery, metalwork and glass was associated with these levels. The results are assessed with a discussion of previous excavations in Abergavenny. The Collfryn Hillslope Enclosure, Llansantffraid Deuddwr, Powys
The report on partial rescue excavations of the Collfryn enclosure between 1980–82 presents a summary of the first large-scale investigation of one of the numerous semi-defensive cropmark and earthwork enclosure sites in the upper Severn valley in mid-Wales. The Effects of Pictures on Rate of Learning Sight Words
TESTED THE FOCAL ATTENTION HYPOTHESIS that pictures interfere with sight-word learning. The design was structured to avoid 2 methodological flaws identified in most related research. Seventytwo kindergarten pupils learned 4 words with or without pictures in a trials-to-criterion paradigm.
