Radiocarbon dating of Middle Archaic and Early Agricultural Period vegetal remains and artifacts from McEuen Cave, Fishhooks Wilderness, Arizona
McEuen Cave (AZ W:13:6 (ASM)) is a large bedrock rockshelter located within an andesitic rocky ash flow tuff/ignimbrite within the Bureau of Land Management’s Fishhooks Wilderness Area near Fort Thomas, Arizona. The Paleoindian and Archaic Occupation of Grants, New Mexico
In the late 1930s Joseph Toulouse Jr., Kirk Bryan, and Bryan McCann published two articles describing the archaeology and geology of seventeen preceramic sites near Grants, New Mexico. George Agogino, Jim Hester, and William Roosa periodically revisited a subset of these sites during the 50s and 60s, publishing three brief articles and collecting additional artifacts. A Buried Middle Archaic Site in the Tucson Basin
Despite great gains in knowledge about the Late Archaic/Early Agricultural period in the Tucson Basin, understanding of the Middle Archaic period remains slim. This paper reports on volunteer investigations at three buried Archaic sites within the Santa Cruz River floodplain: the Joe Ben Site (AZ BB:13:11), AZ BB:13:70, and an unnumbered locus north of the latter.
