  • Paravani, a puzzling lake in the South Caucasus

Open Access•Erwan Messager, Jérôme Poulenard et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2021

  • New pollen evidence from Nariani (Georgia) for delayed postglacial forest expansion in the South Caucasus

Open Access•Erwan Messager, Sébastien Nomade et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2017

The nature and timing of environmental changes throughout the last glacial-interglacial transition in the South Caucasus, and more widely in eastern Europe, are still not fully understood. According to certain pollen records, forest expansion occurred in many areas several millennia after what is considered worldwide as the onset of the Holocene. The current problem we face is that the time lag in forest expansion varies from one sequence to anot…

  • Tree-ring δ 13 C tracks flux tower ecosystem productivity estimates in a NE temperate forest

Open Access•Soumaya Belmecheri, Richard Maxwell et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2014

We investigated relationships between tree-ring δ ^13 C and growth, and flux tower estimates of gross primary productivity (GPP) at Harvard Forest from 1992 to 2010. Seasonal variations of derived photosynthetic isotope discrimination ( Δ ^13 C) and leaf intercellular CO _2 concentration ( c _i ) showed significant increasing trends for the dominant deciduous and coniferous species. Δ ^13 C was positively correlated to growing-season GPP and is p…
