  • Association between maternal PM2.5 exposure and congenital heart defects in offspring

Open Access•Qunying Li, 李群英 李群英 et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background Maternal exposure to air pollutants are associated with congenital heart defects (CHDs), yet fundamental questions remain unclear: which pollutant matters most, which exposure window is most critical, and whether susceptibility differs by offspring sex. Objective To examine the association between maternal PM 2.5 exposure during periconception (from 4 weeks before conception to 28 weeks of gestation) and offspring CHD risk in urban dis…

  • Dual Consequences of Reclamation

Open Access•ZiHao Wang, Rixuan Gao et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2026

Reclamation activities have dramatically altered the biogeochemical cycling of nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) in estuarine and coastal wetlands. However, how reclamation affects sediment ammonia oxidation processes mediated by ammonia‐oxidizing archaea (AOA) and bacteria (AOB), and associated nitrous oxide (N 2 O) production remains unclear. Here, different potential ammonia oxidation rates (PAR), N 2 O production rates, associated functional gene a…

  • Dispersed Residence and Ethnic Communities Among Chinese Newcomers in the “Shinsaibashi Area” of Chuo Ward, Osaka City

    Open Access•ZiHao Wang•ARTICLE•Japanese Journal of Human Geography•2026

  • Effects of different game-based physical activity programs on body composition in Chinese preschool children

Open Access•Sha Qu, Yueyu Feng et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background Childhood obesity is a growing public health concern, with preschool obesity rates in China reaching 10.4%. Physical activity (PA) is crucial for childhood obesity prevention, yet many children fail to meet recommended PA levels. Existing research primarily examines BMI rather than a detailed analysis of body composition, with sex differences remaining uncertain. This study explores the effects of different 8-week PA interventions (LPA…

  • Multi-Instance Zero-Watermarking Algorithm for Vector Geographic Data

Open Access•Qifei Zhou, Lin Yan et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2025

To address the variability and complexity of attack types, this paper proposes a multi-instance zero-watermarking algorithm that goes beyond the conventional one-to-one watermarking approach. Inspired by the class-instance paradigm in object-oriented programming, this algorithm constructs multiple zero watermarks from a single vector geographic dataset to enhance resilience against diverse attacks. Normalization is applied to eliminate dimensiona…

  • Metabolic phenotypes and pulmonary function in aging

Open Access•Xuefei Zhang, Zhendong Liang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Metabolic phenotypes significantly may influence pulmonary function in aging populations, partially mediated by cognitive and mental health, with distinct sex- and age-specific patterns. However, higher PEF in overweight/obese groups warrants caution, potentially reflecting mechanical effects rather than overall respiratory benefit. Integrated metabolic and neuropsychological health management may improve respiratory outcomes in older adults

CVD users filter distractions better in complex visuals but struggle with low contrast. This research advocates inclusive urban design, offering a foundation for future accessibility improvements

  • The Power of “Gaze”

    Open Access•ZiHao Wang•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2024

Visualism is a typical “sensory” manifestation of Western philosophy, especially traditional metaphysics, in the epistemological dimension. Biopolitics, as a governance-regulatory technology in modern Western countries, is closely related to visualism. When examining biopolitics based on visualism, we can find that under the influence of the tradition of visualism, biopolitics “opens” and “restores” individual and group life, achieving the constr…

  • Does informal environmental regulation matter? Evidence on the different impacts of communities and Engos on heavy-polluting firms’ green technology innovation

Linying Guo, Chuan Hu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Environmental Planning…•2024

Firms, especially heavy-polluting firms, are facing intense pressure from informal environmental regulations, which play a unique role in promoting heavy-polluting firms’ green technology innovation (GTI). Communities and ENGOs are two important informal environmental regulation entities that have different influence mechanisms to stimulate heavy-polluting firms in GTI.
