  • Neurocognitive risk markers in first-episode major depressive disorder with positive family history

Open Access•Zhiyong Li, Min Pan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

Language dysfunction and global cognitive impairment may be independent markers of first-episode MDD with PFH. Early cognitive profiling may facilitate targeted prevention in high-risk relatives

  • Nonlinear associations and threshold effects between built environment features and schizophrenia incidence

Open Access•Jian Song, Peng Li et al.•ARTICLE•SSM - Population Health•2025

This study provides robust evidence that the built environment is significantly and nonlinearly linked to schizophrenia incidence. The identified thresholds and interactions offer concrete, actionable guidance for urban planning aimed at mental health promotion

  • Network Association of Biochemical and Inflammatory Abnormalities With Psychiatric Symptoms in First-Episode Schizophrenia Patients

Open Access•Junwei Yan, Yuanyuan Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Our study revealed a complex interactive network correlation among the cardiovascular risk factors, biological immunity profiles, and psychotic symptoms in first-episode patients. Abnormal inflammatory factors and CVD risk factors had high sensitivity and specificity for predicting SCZ symptoms. Generally, our study provided novel information on the immune-related mechanisms involved in early CVD risk in patients with psychotic disorders

  • Childhood maltreatment increases the suicidal risk in Chinese schizophrenia patients

Open Access•Peng Cheng, Peijun Ju et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Relapsed group of patients had significantly more severe childhood trauma, recent psychosocial stress, suicidal risk and proneness to suicidal behavior. BMI and emotional neglect are unique predictors for different dimensions of suicide

  • Potential Role of Pain Catastrophic Thinking in Comorbidity Patients of Depression and Chronic Pain

Open Access•Yuanyuan Chen, Peijun Ju et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Our results suggested that the pain-related catastrophic thinking and anxiety were more severe in the comorbidity group than in MDD-only group and healthy group. Pain-related catastrophizing thoughts and anxiety may have potentially effects on the comorbidity of depression and chronic pain

  • The Prediction and Influential Factors of Violence in Male Schizophrenia Patients With Machine Learning Algorithms

Open Access•Tao Yu, Xulai Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

ML algorithms are useful in early identifying male schizophrenia patients with violence and helping clinicians take preventive measures

  • Association Between Abundance of Haemophilus in the Gut Microbiota and Negative Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Open Access•Cuizhen Zhu, Mingming Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

Increasing evidence indicates an interaction between dysbiosis of the microbiota and the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. However, limited information is available on the specific microbial communities associated with symptoms of schizophrenia. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate gut microbiota dysbiosis and its relationship with psychopathologies in schizophrenia. We recruited 126 participants and divided them into three groups according to…
