Effects of a school-based leadership program on student leaders and their peers
Peer-led program had positive spillover effects on physical and psychological outcomes. • Improved leadership, wellbeing, and classroom behaviour in leaders. • Peers showed increased physical activity, fitness, and perceived motor competence. • Results underscore the value of integrating leadership training into school curricula. Schools provide an ideal context for developing students’ leadership skills; however, most leadership opportunities (e…
Effects of a school-based physical activity intervention on mental health indicators in a sample of Brazilian adolescents
After the 12-week intervention period, it can be concluded that 12 weeks of school-based physical activity intervention significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression in adolescents with moderate/severe symptoms. Furthermore, the intervention contributed to the maintenance of psychological well-being, since the control group showed a significant reduction in this mental health indicator
Comparing, Contrasting, and Integrating Dissemination and Implementation Outcomes Included in the RE-AIM and Implementation Outcomes Frameworks
As the field of dissemination and implementation science matures, there are a myriad of outcomes, identified in numerous frameworks, that can be considered across individual, organizational, and population levels. This can lead to difficulty in summarizing literature, comparing across studies, and advancing translational science. This manuscript sought to (1) compare, contrast, and integrate the outcomes included in the RE-AIM and Implementation …
Process Evaluation of a School-Based High-Intensity Interval Training Program for Older Adolescents
Process evaluations can help to optimise the implementation of school-based physical activity interventions. The purpose of this paper is to describe the process evaluation of a school-based high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program for older adolescent students, known as Burn 2 Learn (B2L). B2L was evaluated via a cluster randomised controlled trial in 20 secondary schools (10 intervention, 10 control) in New South Wales, Australia. Teache…
