Nine hundred years ago Mixtec community of Tilantongo was seat of an empire in Southern Mexico. As late as 16th century Tilantongo's ruling elite was described as belonging to the most noble lineage in all Mixteca Alta. Today, community is moribund, only a withered reflection of center which fathered royalty for several centuries in Mixteca
