In Insurgency, Counter-insurgency and Policing in Centre-West Mexico, 1926–1929, Mark Lawrence attempts to discern what led communities in Mexico to join the pro-Catholic uprising of the mid-1920s known as the Cristero Rebellion, to oppose it, or to remain neutral. Although parenting dimensionality and typology have been extensively examined with middle-class Caucasian samples, the parenting styles of low-income, African American mothers have been underexamined. This study focused on the parenting cognitions of single, adolescent, African American mothers from disadvantaged communities. Death Penalty Charging in Los Angeles County
The authors analyze death penalty charging data for Los Angeles County involving homicides from 1990 to 1994. The data were collected by the Los Angeles Times. This data set is one of the largest tabulations of homicide defendant data yet collected. A Bayesian logistic regression analysis is applied with a proper prior formulated to provide conservative inferences. Chance and the Death Penalty
We address capriciousness in decisions by prosecutors to charge homicide defendants with a capital crime. We suggest that it is useful to think of such decisions as a kind of lottery in which one should focus on the distribution of outcomes when considering both the nature of capriciousness and the degree of capriciousness. After our conceptional framework is introduced, we illustrate our ideas with the analysis of a data set from San Francisco

Postgraduate Training and Work Experience of Non-ECFMG Certified Physicians in the U.S
Data on postgraduate training and work experience of a sample of 850 Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) taking the January 1973 ECFMG examination in the U.S. are presented. It was found that 485 (57%) of the respondents had specialty training and, of these 485, 59 per cent were certified in a specialty. Physician Manpower Data
The problems inherent in the AMA physician manpower data base are illustrated by a cohort study of physicians immigrating to the United States between 1961 and 1971. An estimated 33 per cent of the 27,710 immigrants in the cohort were not on the 1971 AMA physician file. The problems inherent in the AMA physician manpower data base are illustrated by a cohort study of physicians immigrating to the United States between 1961 and 1971. An estimated 33 per cent of the 27,710 immigrants in the cohort were not on the 1971 AMA physician file.
