  • Bilateral asymmetry of the humerus during growth and development

    Open Access•Amanda Blackburn•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2011•Citada por: 15•Referencias: 39

The development of handedness throughout growth can be investigated by using bilateral asymmetry of the humerus as a proxy for this trait. A large skeletal sample of nonadults from English archaeological sites was examined using standard metric techniques to assess when right‐sided asymmetry first appears in the human skeleton. Results of this work indicate a change in directional asymmetry during growth and development, with infants and young ch…

  • Hand Dominance and Bilateral Asymmetry of the Epicondylar Breadth of the Humerus

    Amanda Blackburn, Christopher J Knüsel•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•2006•Citada por: 17•Referencias: 15

For this consideration of bilateral asymmetry of the epicondylar breadth of the distal humerus and its relationship to hand dominance, metric analysis of the humerus was conducted on a living population from Ontario, Canada, and on the late AngloSaxon skeletal population (tenth to eleventh century AD) from Raunds Furnells, Northamptonshire (UK). Examination of trends in adult asymmetry reveals that while certain variables, such as age and sex, ca…

  • The environment and minor-party insurgency in Australian politics

Amanda Blackburn, Bruce Stone•ARTICLE•Australian Journal of Political…•2003•Citada por: 3

It is known that many Liberal–National voters are environmentally conscious. However, the lack of importance of environmentalism in influencing voter behaviour in Australia, compared with socio-economic ideologies and issues, means that few Liberal–National identifiers are likely to find appeal in the parties which place most emphasis on protecting the natural environment, as these parties are generally Left-leaning with regard to socio-economic …
