Pottery from Medieval Burials on the Tym River

Purpose. Bederevsky Bor I and Bederevsky Bor II are located on the right bank of the River Tym near the village of Napas. The monuments belong to the Tym type of burial and memorial rites. Ceramics and ornaments on them have not been specially studied by researchers. The aim is to identify the peculiarities of the ornamental tradition of the Tym River population. Results. A total of 9 ceramic vessels were examined. 7 of them come from Bederevsky Bor I, 2 from Bederevsky Bor II. Special attention was paid to the technique and technology of ornamentation, as well as its stylistics. The monuments are characterised by the application of ornamentation with a large toothed stamp and the end of a smooth stick with the help of knurling by pricking. At Bederevsky Bor I, the ornaments are very archaic. Analogies with the ceramics of other medieval monuments of the Narym Priobie, as well as with the ceramics of the Middle Priobie monuments are traced. Conclusion. A characteristic feature of the Tym type ceramics is the use of a coarse-toothed stamp coarse-toothed stamp, absence of ‘ears’ and ‘duck’. Common Selkup features are expressed in the prevalence of the comb stamp and slanted motif, as well as in multi-row ornament belts. There is a duality of tradition (Narym Priobye/Middle Priobye). The population of Bederevsky Bor I and II, as well as Migalka, Grebenshchikovsky and Kustovsky burial grounds correlate with the dialect-local group – Chumulgula
