Ceci est tout particulièrement le cas des mineurs zambiens, que l'on considère comme une aristocratie du travail apolitique gâtée. Cet article lance un défi à cette prise de position, déclarant que les mineurs zambiens ont développé et maintenu une conscience de classes et une conscience des conflits tout à fait claires pendant la période coloniale et que, depuis les années 60, les mineurs ont développé une critique populiste de l'état zambien, basée sur les classes
