Our contribution aims to highlight the crucial role of metaphorical thinking and metaphorical denominations in scientific contexts, taking into account two levels of analysis : a. The linguistic and semiotic analysis of metaphor as a naming tool for the creation of new specialized terminologies, with particular attention to the explanatory and didactic function of metaphorical naming ;b. The analysis of the modifications that metaphors undergo during the process of interlinguistic transfer, especially with regard to the cultural and ideological values linked to the framing that metaphorical terminology can convey.Our analysis will be based on a terminological corpus drawn from the Franceterme (http://www.culture.fr/franceterme) and GDT (http://www.granddictionnaire.com) databases
