Community leaders play a role in disaster management, but their practice has not been thoroughly studied. This study explores the role of community leaders in flood management. The study employed a cross-sectional study with a qualitative method using five informant interviews and 56 informants focus group discussions using purposive sampling. The results revealed that most participants had good knowledge and flood-management practices. The readiness and emergency responses in a flood situation, and the community’s participation in the flood training and simulations were pretty good. The flood early warning system used kentongan, mosque loudspeakers, and WhatsApp. Resource mobilisation involved the community in disaster training, preparing disaster preparedness bags, first aid kits, communications tools, and essential telephone numbers. Most participants knew to prepare a disaster and carry out an emergency response. This study is intended to provide policy decision guidance on flood-management practices for community leaders, leading to flood preparedness
