The findings of this paper are based on 87 individual interviews conducted by the researcher in which a sex information schedule was administered. The adolescents represent upper-lower class and lower-lower class as well as different ethnic groups. The findings indicate poor and distorted information in ten areas of sex knowledge investigated. Over 18 percent of the adolescents answered questions with distorted information or no information at all. Knowledge about masturbation venereal disease nocturnal emission and the menstrual cycle was the poorest. Class race and ethnic group membership all are influentially associated with sex information in the lower class adolescents. (authors)
