Gender has been defined as a complex multidimensional, multilevel, and dynamic structure of social relations that establish a specific gender order in a given society. Gender inequality involves gender norms and values which give rise to differences in the distribution of (material and nonmaterial) resources between women and men at both the micro‐level action (everyday life) and macro‐level institutions and practices. Institutions and organizations play a key role in the construction of gender and in the reinforcement of gender inequality, affecting choices and opportunities by unequally allocating resources and privilege
