Ramsden and Fitzgerald (1990) offer no basis for altering the conclusions of the original article (Latta 1987), where I proposed that stemmed ceramic vessels in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Ontario Iroquoian sites appear to represent diffusion from European sources, probably through imitation of the Catholic chalice
