Introduction for the special issue on Contemporary Chinese Marxist social outlook and philosophy of education

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all the colleagues and friends who have provided various support and guidance for the completion of this special issue. We would like to thank the EPAT as an excellent academic platform for designating the topic, and the managing editor Andrew Madjar for his extremely insightful guidance; his patience, responsibility, and professionalism have impressed the authors deeply. And also, here are many thanks to the anonymous reviewers, the English experts who helped improve the language, and our teaching assistants who did the formatting job, and to the production editors of Taylor & Francis Group for their efficient work.Michael A. Peters and Chengbing Wang, who are the authors of the introduction, and the participants of the EPAT project ‘Contemporary Chinese Marxism’, met first at Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China in 1999, and it was EPAT that published Chengbing Wang’s first English essay ‘Reflecting on the Criticism of Pragmatism in the 1950s in China’ in 2002 (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1469-5812.2002.tb00294.x). Over the past 20 years, these two have enjoyed a good academic and personal friendship, but this is the first opportunity for them to cooperate on special issues of a journal. Therefore, so to speak, this project, as well as the first special issue, is a crystallization of twenty-plus years of academic collaboration and personal friendship between these two scholars.
