Lifting the Lived Experiences of American Indian Counselors on the Reservation
This study utilized interpretive phenomenological analysis to explore the experiences of three American Indian/Alaska Native counselors working on federal Indian reservations. Data analysis yielded four themes: the worth and weight of counseling on a reservation, the impact of culture and community on counseling, four forms of trauma impacting the counselor, and the effects of personal and professional wellness. A 15-Year Content Analysis of Three Qualitative Research Traditions
The authors conducted a qualitative content analysis on the consistency, rigor, and methodological identity of 83 phenomenological (n= 44), grounded theory (n= 25), and consensual qualitative research (n= 14) articles published between 2002 and 2016. The results indicate a distinct pattern of qualitative research practices in professional counseling
Grounded Theory Research Design
We engaged in a 3-phase meta-methodology review of grounded theory research design and practices referenced in the literature, which were validated by an expert sample. Following an initial scoping review of qualitative literature and a 15-year evidence map, we used an embedded quantitative approach to examine expert appraisal of grounded theory construct relevance. An Examination of the Relationship of the 16PF Fifth Edition to a Multidimensional Model of Self-Esteem
The regression equation needed to predict the self-esteem score from the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) Fifth Edition is not available for hand scoring. This score is derived from the Coopersmith’s Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI), which is based on a unitary model of self-esteem. The SEI may be subject to gender and extroversion biases.
