This speculative essay offers an interpretation of the ways in which a particular world-historical narrative underlies the content of mainstream management and business curricula. Analysing change in an Accident and Emergency Department
Bringing together insights from Organisation Studies and Science and Technology Studies this paper provides a multilevel analysis of a planned change initiative. Focusing on different layers of this change the emergent ambiguities, multiplicities and tensions are explored serving to highlight the ‘back stage complexities’ often hidden by the ‘front stage slickness’ (Moser and Law) of organisational routines
Managerialism, the therapeutic habitus and the self in contemporary organizing
Over the last two decades, managerialism (Enteman, 1993) has become consolidated on multiple fronts.
