Open Access•Nancy Hodges, Michael J Kane et al.•ARTICLE•Small Business Economics•2025

Colors may enhance entrepreneurial behavior. It is well known that creativity can lead to entrepreneurial behavior, and it is argued in the psychology literature that colors can influence an individual’s creativity. In this paper, we explore the empirical relationship between colors and entrepreneurial behavior under the literature-based hypothesis that yellows and oranges enhance an individual’s creative emotions. Our findings open the door for …

Phillip Mccann, Philip Mccann et al.•BOOK•Oxford Handbook of Local…•2015

In recent reforms to the European Union regional and urban development policy, known as Cohesion Policy, the creating and sustaining local competitiveness is such a priority that the European Commission recently introduced a new policy approach to enhance the economic performance of regions of Europe—Smart Specialization Policy approach. This approach puts entrepreneurship and its role in driving innovation at the center of the regional economic …

Albert N Link, David B Audretsch et al.•BOOK•Oxford Handbook of Local…•2015

"The local levels of economies have felt the impact of technological change and globalization. These forces have triggered the need to understand the dynamic mechanisms that enable locales to respond to such changes. For example, the downsizing of traditional employers because of a major loss in market share due to new competitors, acquisition by global firms, or off-shoring of production or services was traditionally thought to be beyond the sco…

Bronwyn H Hall, Albert N Link et al.•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2003

Universities are a key institution in the U.S. innovation system, and an important aspect of their involvement is the role they play in public-private partnerships. This note offers insights into the performance of industry-university research partnerships, using a survey of precommercial research projects funded by the Advanced Technology Program. Although results must be interpreted cautiously because of the small size of the sample, the study …

  • Are Public Sector Workers More Risk Averse Than Private Sector Workers

    Open Access•Don Bellante, Albert N Link•ARTICLE•Industrial and Labor Relations…•1981•Citada por: 46

Available evidence suggests that stability of employment is greater in the public sector than in the private sector. The value that individuals place on this stability depends on the individual's degree of risk aversion. Economic reasoning suggests that, other things equal, those individuals with a high degree of aversion to risk will be more likely than others to seek employment in the public sector. This paper tests that hypothesis through the …

  • The Impact of Market Structure on Wages, Fringe Benefits, and Turnover

    Open Access•James E Long, Albert N Link•ARTICLE•Industrial and Labor Relations…•1983•Citada por: 13

This paper examines the relationship between labor compensation and the structure of the product market, which is measured by the industry concentration ratio and by dummy variables for the existence and type of government regulation. Unlike previous studies that have estimated the impact of concentration and regulation on wages or earnings, this study extends the analysis to include the effect of market structure on employer-provided pensions an…

  • Firm Size and Efficient Entrepreneurial Activity

    Albert N Link•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Economy•1980•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 3

This paper examines empirically the relationship between innovative activity, as measured by the rate of return to research-and-development expenditures, and firm size using a sample of firms from the chemicals and allied products industry (SIC 28). We find that size is a prerequisite for successful innovative activity. The estimated rate of return to research and development for the smaller firms is 30 percent, while for the larger size firms it…

  • Public Support for Private R&D

Barry Bozeman, Albert N Link et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Policy Analysis and…•1985•Citada por: 1

The U.S. government has long included in its tax code various special provisions designed to stimulate industrial R&D. In 1981, those provisions were substantially augmented by a special R&D tax credit, and various proposals are now under consideration to relax the antitrust statutes in order to encourage research through joint ventures. The case for any of these measures is difficult to establish, being based on assumptions that are not readily …

  • Worker Response to a Menu of Implicit Contracts

    Don Bellante, Albert N Link•ARTICLE•Industrial and Labor Relations…•1982•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 1

The literature on implicit contracts between workers and firms suggests that workers face a variety of such contracts, allowing each to choose the optimal trade-off between earnings level and earnings stability. This study tests some implications of that theory through an examination of the risk behavior of individual heads of households. The data source is the University of Michigan Panel Study of Income Dynamics, which includes a measure of the…

  • The Positive Sum Strategy

    Albert N Link•ARTICLE•Technology and Culture•1988

TECHNOLOGY AND CULTURE Book Reviews 183 require a fundamental transformation in some central behavioral fea tures of the Soviet system. A tremendous variety of systemic fea tures, involving the degree of freedom, incentives, and pressures influencing enterprises, discourage innovation. Until the system is re formed in a fairly radical way, the incentives for innovation will re main weak, the disincentives strong. One chapter characterizes the…

    Albert N Link•REVIEW•Technology and Culture•1988

This volume provides a state-of-the-art review of the relationship between technology and economic growth. Many of the 42 chapters discuss the political and corporate decisions for what one author calls a Competitiveness Policy. As contributor John A. Young states, Technology is our strongest advantage in world competition. Yet we do not capitalize on our preeminent position, and other countries are rapidly closing the gap. This lively volume pro…
