Industrial Serfdom and Metallurgical Technology in 19th-Century Russia
Throughout the 19th century the metallurgical enterprises of Russia's Ural Mountains employed industrial technology that was for the most part obsolescent. technological foundations of Russian metallurgy had been laid in the 18th century, and, although the innovations of the 19th were in time introduced at the more advanced enterprises, relics of the past were still very much in evidence.
