Physical activity may be an important factor for understanding health and psychosocial outcomes following military service. The purpose of this analysis was to evaluate the association between physical activity and biopsychosocial outcomes in post-9/11 Veterans. We also evaluated the interaction of physical activity with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis and traumatic brain injury (TBI) history. Data were cross-sectional from 549 pos…
Comparing effectiveness of residential versus intensive virtual treatment for veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder
These analyses suggest that intensive virtual treatment has similar effectiveness to residential treatment for PTSD. This supports the development of intensive virtual interventions as viable alternatives to residential treatments and a valuable component within the continuum of PTSD care. Time doesn’t heal all
Results of these analyses suggests that age is important when considering the effects of PTSD symptoms on pain intensity ratings. Specifically, pain intensity ratings are higher in older Veterans with PTSD symptoms. These findings underscore the importance for clinical providers to evaluate trauma history and PTSD symptoms in older Veterans reporting pain symptoms
Distinctive Members
This study investigated the effect of group composition on judgments of African Americans. White male and female college students responded to photographic slides of female work groups in which the racial composition of the group was systematically altered to represent varying degrees of distinctiveness. Each participant judged the effectiveness of individual group members, as well as the competency of the overall group. Findings suggested that w…
African Americans' and Whites' Selection Attributions about Solos Appearing in Same-Sex Groups
One hundred and eleven African American and White participants viewed photographs and determined the likelihood that African American and White male andfemale solos would be selectedfor membership to a work group on the basis of affirmative action or ability. Participants also provided judgments on a 7-point Likert-type scale about the overall groups contained in the photographs. As predicted, differences in selection attributions were associated…

Equality of participation and influence in groups
Equity and derogation of those against whom we have aggressed
Casting the classic provocation-retaliation paradigm in an equity framework, we hypothesized that persons realizing their retribution was excessive would derogate their victim, but only when they did not anticipate an opportunity to compensate her. After retaliating against a peer who had harshly evaluated their essays, 40 female undergraduates were informed that either a serious or mild misfortune had recently been suffered by their partner, and…
Aggression-consistent, -inconsistent, and -irrelevant priming effects on selective exposure to media violence
Priming with aggressive concepts increases males' attraction to media violence. It was hypothesized that priming with schema-irrelevant concepts would decrease interest relative to the effects of schema-relevant concepts, whether or not the schema-relevant concepts were also schema-consistent. Thirty male undergraduates used lists including aggressive (schema-consistent and schema-relevant), positive or prosocial (schema-inconsistent yet relevant…
