  • Tree-Ring Dating and AMS Wiggle-Matching of Wooden Statues at Neunggasa Temple in South Korea

Open Access•Won-Kyu Park, Yojung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2010•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 10

This paper reports the results of tree-ring dating and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) wiggle-matching for wooden Buddhist statues stored at the Eungjindang Hall of Neunggasa Temple, South Korea. Among 23 statues, 10 were successfully dated by tree rings. The cutting date of logs used for the statues was determined as some time between late fall 1684 and early spring 1685 when the bark ring (AD 1684) completed latewood formation. The 95.4% co…

  • Tree-Ring Dating of Sinmu-Mun, The North Gate of Kyungbok Palace in Seoul

    Won-Kyu Park, Yo-Jung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Tree-Ring Research•2007

The cutting dates of 10 wood timbers (girders and corner rafters) of Sinmu-mun, the north gate of Kyungbok Palace in Seoul, were determined by the dendrochronological method. Tree-ring chronologies of unknown dates derived from the timbers were crossdated using the graphic comparison method against the dated master chronologies derived from living trees. The living trees for the masters used for this study were Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. (Ja…

  • Spring-temperature variations in western Himalaya, India, as reconstructed from tree-rings

    Open Access•Ram R Yadav, Won-Kyu Park et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•1999•Referencias: 2

The Himalayan region plays a very important role in influencing the regional and extra-regional circulation system. Long-term instrumental or proxy climate records for this region are scant, but are essential for a global perspective of climate variability. A 598-year (AD 1390-1987) reconstruction of spring (March-May) temperature has been derived for the first time for the western Himalayan region, India using a well replicated ring-width chrono…

  • Dendroclimatic Reconstruction of April–May Temperature Fluctuations in the Western Himalaya of India Since A.D. 1698

    Open Access•Ram R Yadav, Won-Kyu Park et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•1997

Ring-width chronologies of Himalayan cedar ( Cedrus deodara (D. Don.) G. Don.), Himalayan pine ( Pinus wallichiana A. B. Jackson), and Himalayan spruce ( Picea smithiana (Wall.) Boiss.) from the western Himalayan region, India, have been used to reconstruct mean April–May temperature back to A. D. 1698. The reconstruction correlates significantly with the average April–May instrumental temperature record ( r = +0.62, 1876–1988) and is characteriz…
