The Self-Other Gap in Perceived Automation Risk
This visualization shows a systematic misperception in how workers judge automation risk. Drawing on the 2026 Measuring Employment Sentiments and Social Inequality study, the authors compare paired measures of perceived automation likelihood for self and most others, using nationally representative samples of American and Canadian workers. Approximately three quarters of study participants in both countries rated their own jobs as at low risk of …
A novel approach to support parents in developing healthy behaviours among preschool children
Background: Parents play a crucial role in shaping the development of healthy lifestyle behaviours in young children. Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services are an ideal setting in which to promote these behaviours through parent communication initiatives. Aim: To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability and impact of the Healthy Adventures Book pack in increasing parent and carer capacity to support positive dietary intake, physical a…
Co‐Designing a Framework for Social Media Health Communication to Young People
BACKGROUND: Social media became a key communication channel for public health agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for reaching younger populations less engaged with traditional channels. However, official social media health communication often fails to appeal to young people. Improving public health agency use of social media for health communication is vital to ensure health messages reach this priority population effectively, esp…
Co-producing a ‘creative toolkit’ to support the mental health and wellbeing of palliative care professionals
Alterations to the clinical, social, and economic landscape have made palliative care an increasingly challenging sector in which to work; COVID-19 introduced further changes that pushed palliative care professionals to the breaking point. Their struggles at work are exacerbated by the fact that specialists in this field tend to ignore their own needs, instead centring and prioritising those of their patients-a situation that is not tenable. With…
Oral histories document community mobilisation to participate in decision-making regarding a hazardous waste thermal treatment facility
Colfax, Louisiana hosts a commercial hazardous waste thermal treatment (TT) facility, which treats fireworks, explosives, and military ordnances by open-burn/open-detonation one mile from the edge of the nearest community. Seventy-one percent of Colfax's residents are Black, and forty-six percent live below poverty, indicating the community's structural vulnerability. This community-based study originated at the behest of Colfax community members…
Opioid prescribing patterns among medical practitioners in New South Wales, Australia
Primary school mobile dental program in New South Wales, Australia
The use of EDRs for oral health services evaluation research is a relatively new approach, and the evaluation works within the limitations and strengths of utilising administrative datasets. The study will also provide avenues to improve the quality of data collected and system-level improvements to better enable future services to be aligned with disease prevalence and population needs
Evaluating the sustainability of non-communicable diseases programs in Malaysia
The sustainability factors affecting the NCDs program in Malaysia are qualitatively similar to other countries. For greater sustainability capacity, we should work towards strong leadership, strengthening funding stability, and incorporating evidence-based public health strategies in the implementation of the NCDs program

Imagining Crimean Tatar History since 2014
This article examines competing Crimean Tatar, Russian and Ukrainian views of Crimean Tatar history as they have developed since the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014, via an examination of popular history and publistika. Crimean Tatar writing insists on the core principle of indigenous rights. In order to marginalise this discourse, Russian historiography adopts a neocolonial settler framing and a mythology of ‘ancient Russian’ Crimea, much o…
The construct validity and responsiveness of the EQ-5D-5L, AQL-5D and a bespoke TTO in acute asthmatics
The EQ-5D-5L and AQL-5D showed stronger construct validity and responsiveness compared to the TTO. Therefore, both the EQ-5D-5L and AQL-5D should be considered for use in future economic evaluations

Nanny or canny? Community perceptions of government intervention for preventive health
Critics of government intervention for the prevention of lifestyle-related chronic disease often conceptualise such efforts as ‘nanny state’, reflecting a neoliberal perspective and derailing wider debate. However, it is unknown how the community perceives such interventions. Given the importance of public opinion to government willingness to implement population-level system change, we aimed to better understand Australian community attitudes to…

Quality Expeditions for GP Federations
Introduction: The five-year forward view for the English NHS sets out an ambition to integrate care by decisively breaking down the barriers in how care is provided between family doctors and hospitals, between physical and mental health, between health and social care. The future will see far more care delivered locally but with some services in specialist centres, organised to support” (The NHS five-year forward view). One of the proposed model…

Small Works, Big Stories. Methodological approaches to photogrammetry through crowd-sourcing experiences
A recent digital public archaeology project (HeritageTogether) sought to build a series of 3D ditigal models using photogrammetry from crowd-sourced images. The project saw over 13000 digital images being donated, and resulted in models of some 78 sites, providing resources for researchers, and condition surveys. The project demonstrated that digital public archaeology does not stop at the 'trowel's edge', and that collaborative post-excavation a…
Crowd-sourcing archaeological research
Archaeologists are increasingly working with crowd-sourced digital data. Using evidence from other disciplines about the nature of crowd-sourcing in academic research, we suggest that archaeological projects using donated data can usefully be differentiated between generative projects (which rely on data collected by citizen scientists), and analytical projects (which make use of volunteers to classify, or otherwise analyse data that are provided…

Promoting an Evidence‐Informed Approach to Addressing Problem Gambling in UK Prison Populations
International studies find that between a quarter and a third of offenders may be defined as problem gamblers. No comparable studies have been conducted in the UK during the last decade, which has seen unprecedented changes in gambling legislation and opportunities. The present study in two E nglish prisons (one male and one female) found that levels of problem gambling were in line with global estimates. 27.8% of men and 18.1% of women were rate…
Diet and death in times of war
Verdi and the Germans
The relationship of art works to the formation of national identities has become a key area of musicological investigation in recent years. Within this area of study there is now a growing shift towards the implications of transnational cultural exchange, a trend encapsulated by Gundula Kreuzer's fine new book, Verdi and the Germans: From Unification to the Third Reich. Kreuzer sidesteps the now well-trodden ground of Verdi's politicization in ni…

Empowerment as a Framework for Indigenous Workforce Development and Organisational Change
Relative powerlessness resulting from colonial dispossession and associated passive welfare policies has long been recognised as a critical factor influencing the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, yet it is hard to find well-evaluated health and social interventions that take an explicit empowerment approach. This paper presents the findings of a Family Wellbeing Empowerment programme pilot delivered to Cairns Region Department of F…

Husserl and the 'Idealists
This paper is concerned with the influences of Fichte, Hegel, and Schopenhauer (to be collectively referred to as the “Idealists”), in phenomenology, primarily as it was conceived and developed by Edmund Husserl. The influences of Kierkegaard and Nietzsche in Existentialism, a fellow traveler and to some degree an offshoot of phenomenology, have long been recognized. Largely passed over or denied, however, are the influences of the German Idealis…

The Ulster Unionist Party and the U. S. Role in the Northern Ireland Peace Process, 1994–2000
Since the beginning of the “Troubles,” Ulster unionists generally have viewed American involvement in Northern Ireland as biased towards nationalists and “unwanted interference” in their internal affairs. Yet despite vehement condemnations, unionists made virtually no attempt to counteract Irish‐American perceptions or to explain unionism to U. S. audiences. But from 1994 onwards, mainly in response to the expanding involvement of the Clinton adm…

Fashionable Acts
The contemporary British media delight in portraying opera as an ‘elitist’ form of art, a pursuit reserved for the rich, who supposedly dress up to listen to fat ladies singing in foreign languages in opulent surroundings. Such clichés not only misrepresent today's diverse audience for opera and the varied spaces in which it is performed, but oversimplify a complex historical situation, for opera's social signification in Britain has been far fro…
