  • D sedimentary architecture of sandy interbeds within massive lacustrine deposits – Lednica Lake, Poland

Open Access•Włodzimierz Juśkiewicz, Jakub Jaszewski et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2026

The article presents an integrated reconstruction of sediment development and lake-floor morphology in the western part of Lednica Lake, an archaeological site in Poland, based on instrumental datasets, underwater investigations, and core analyses. Its main outcome is a 3D (4D) map and model synthesising bedforms, depositional-unit boundaries, and spatial relations between the inflow zone and the area of deposition. The results show that the sand…

    Open Access•Jakub Stankiewicz, Monika Badura et al.•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2025•Referencias: 11

The primary objective of this paper is to compile the results of archaeobotanical analyses (seeds/fruits, pollen, wood) of samples taken from 10 coffin burials dating to the 17th-18th centuries, belonging to the Protestant family von Glasenapp at Białowąs (Balfanz). This study provides new insights into local funerary customs and the role of botanical elements in funerals. The plant remains preserved in the coffins indicate considerable restraint…

Recent research on central West Slavic sites in the Polish Lowlands (Poland) dated to the Early Middle Ages conducted within the framework of the Man in the Borderland project (NP DH) has shown that settlements located on small lake islands (Pomerania, Lubusz land) were of particular importance, alongside settlements performing complex social and political functions. Their physiognomy relates in many cases to British crannogs, as they have an ant…

  • A novel multiproxy approach to detect the impact of charcoal production on the natural environment in NW Poland – project concept and preliminary results

Open Access•Tomasz Ważny, Krzysztof Szewczyk et al.•ARTICLE•Geographia Polonica•2022

Agriculture has been the major driver of deforestation in Europe in the last 1000 years. In the past, forests were also exploited for charcoal production; however, the spatial scale/extent of this activity and its impact are unknown. LIDAR data can be used as a noninvasive tool to investigate the small-scale diversity of the land relief, including forested areas. These data can reveal the extent anthropogenic modifications of topography present-d…
