In a replication of a prior study, family satisfaction and effectiveness are again perceived to be significantly lower by disturbed adolescents than by their siblings and normal controls. Disturbed children see greater emotional difficulties in family relationships than do their siblings, but both view the family as not coping adequately. Factors of Marital Adjustment in Locke's Marital Adjustment Test
The short-form Locke Marital Adjustment Questionnaire was factor-analyzed to obtain distinct components of marital adjustment for husbands and wives. Principal axis factor analysis with varimax rotations of data for 149 wives and 157 husbands indicated that the instrument is an internally consistent measure of marital adjustment, and that this general aspect consists of two separate components-sexual congeniality and compatibility. Relationships between the parents' concept of the family and family adjustment
The family concepts of two groups of ten families each, of higher and lower adjustment, were compared by means of the Family-Concept Q Sort and several other measures. The findings supported all the specific hypotheses of the study at reasonable levels of significance, as well as the general hypothesis that the actual adjustment of the family is in part a function of the family concepts of the parents
