Luigi Pulci’s Parody of Josephus’s Judean Antiquities
Poi ch’io parti’ da voi is one of the earliest documents pertaining to the fifteenth-century polemic between the vernacular poet Luigi Pulci and the prolific philosopher Marsilio Ficino. Pulci’s sonnet parodies Josephus Flavius’s Judean Antiquities, written in the first century ce. Flora, Fauna, and Marsilio Ficino in Luigi Pulci’s Morgante
This study identifies an allegorical representation of the polemic between vernacular poet Luigi Pulci and Neoplatonic philosopher Marsilio Ficino within Pulci’s epic poem Il Morgante. Pulci’s critique of Ficino’s cultural-philosophical program may be deduced from the treatment of flora and fauna in two equine scenes from Pulci’s masterpiece. Empirical gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) research has passed through three stages. Transitions between stages have been caused by an interaction of empirical research and institutional policies. The researchers conducted a survey of undergraduates living in residence halls at Loyola University Chicago, a Jesuit Catholic university. The survey included 20 statements on topics currently being debated in the Church. The researchers hypothesized that those who indicated some level of agreement with the statement, Homosexuality is wrong, would show strong correlations with other statements about sexuality, while those indicating disagreement …
Depression as a predictor of perceived social support and demand
This study examined the relationship of the cognitive, mood, and somatic components of depression on perceptions of social support and social demand among older adults (n = 851) over two years. Factor-analyses confirmed the factor structure of our multicomponential model of depression. Results supported our proposal that interpersonal specificity, as measured by depressive cognition about self and others, is important to predicting changes in per…

The paper describes a study of gay and lesbian religious groups located in the United States between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean between March of 1989 and June of 1993. The researcher found 684 groups to have existed at some time in the region and conducted interviews to document 468 of these groups.
