The social consequences of conflict-related sexual violence
This study explores the social consequences of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), identifying five key outcomes for survivors: acceptance, rejection, stigma, integration, and empowerment. This article explores how the UNHCR exercises productive power through gendered knowledge in migration governance. Using multimodal semiotic analysis of twelve animated films from the Telling the Real Story campaign, we examine how public information campaigns (PICs) on irregular migration risks balance humanitarian protection and border control through gendered depictions. Drawing on field research with Yezidi and Rohingya communities, this note examines ethical challenges of researching sexual violence in post-atrocity settings. Through these cases, I demonstrate how institutional ethics review processes can inadvertently reinforce power structures that harm vulnerable populations. This paper examines the activism and care work of Rohingya women in displacement settings, focusing on grassroots efforts in Cox’s Bazar refugee camps and transnational advocacy by diaspora activists. This article examines how Yezidi women's experiences before, during, and after the 2014 genocide have shaped their perceptions and demands for justice.
