This article discusses the anthropomorphic image on a fragment of ceramic pot from the Sannai Maruyama site of the mid early – second half of the middle Jomon period in Aomori Prefecture. This article discusses ritual practice of the north of West Japan during the Yayoi period. Throughout the Yayoi period, different regional and local features gradually developed in the Japanese islands. The article explores the imagery found on ceramic vessels from the Paleometal epoch of the Japanese Islands and southern Korean Peninsula. This study of the artistic motifs and their comparative analysis is particularly significant, as it allows us to trace the dissemination of belief systems and ritual practices during this era. Chinese Mirrors with Inscriptions from Early Iron Age Burial Complexes in Korea and Japan
This article presents findings of the comprehensive study of Chinese mirrors with inscriptions unearthed from the early Iron Age burial complexes of Korea and Japan and the search for their closest analogies. Throughout the period from 300 BC to 700 AD, significant changes took place in the life of population of Japanese Archipelago and Korean Peninsula, which were reflected by the burial rite. Cave Sites of the Jomon Period in Taishaku Gorge, Western Japan
We describe the largest group of cave sites in Japan known to date. It includes some 50 sites, located in a gorge within the area of the modern Taishaku National Natural Park. Their characteristics are provided and their relevance to the study of the early stages of the Jomon Period is assessed.
