To me it is sadly depressing that so few young black Americans are ready to meet the African on his own soil; that too many would rather borrow or buy a supposedly lost identity than invest two years or more in working with Africans toward their own self-made goals. To me, working with an African as a fellow human being, not as a fellow black, has been one of my most treasured Peace Corps experiences
